Showed up on a Wednesday afternoon and no one was there. Called the listed number and the person said he would be there in 30 minutes. A man showed up, the owner and brewer and let us in.
Turns out he had no intention of being open as he told us no one really comes in a Wednesday. He had one beer on tap, I don’t know which one but it was a very good dark strong ale.
We had a nice conversation while drinking and talking about the brewing industry in Belgium and around the world. He has owned the brewery since 1984. He still uses a yeast strain from the original brewer over 200 years old.
I purchased three bottles to go and look forward to drinking them in Paris.
Would love to come back again someday.

Charming little family owned brewery in belgian countryside. About an hour drive from Brussels. The name translates roughly to : "Steam Brewery" because it is still powered by steam(on of the last ones in the world I believe).
Probably the high point of my last trip to Belgium. The place is full of history(the brewery originally opened in 1795), the owner, Jean-Louis is very knowledgeable, funny and full of anecdotes and stories(Like the time he met Michael Jackson or when he helped start Unibroue brewery in Chambly, Québec).
The tour of the brewery was great, but the 2 hour "tasting" afterwords was amazing. Especially "Vapeur de Bises". Well worth the trip.
If you're in or around Brussels, it's a must. I highly recommend it.
