Slightly different than your average brewpub. It seems like a combination of a sports bar, a dive bar and a family place all rolled into one.

The beer itself was decent, although there was nothing memorable about any of the beers. They had a typical Irish stout, a decent pale ale, an OK red ale, and a lemon wheat.

The bartender did not seem to know about beer. She said she did not like beer.

The names are funny though, the Big Gut Pale Ale, and the Bar Wench brew, for example.

The location is a little out of the way, but there is a bus stop right across the street so that's helpful.

If I head back to Baltimore, I'll probably skip this place.

This place is a place I would describe as fun, a hodge-podge a wall decorations, breweriana, hot sauces, cartoon characters, every age group is catered to and when I was there, every age group was present. The beers were available in a sampler and all were more than I expected and most were good. The service was excellent as was the scope of the menu. The prices were quite reasonable and the food was okay, not special, not bad, okay and done very quickly. I would definitely go to this spot again for some good beer and some fun.

Rocky Run seems to be a bit of a crab joint with some Mardi Gras flavor thrown in. It's perfect for kids or teens, but adults might find it a bit kitschy, gaudy, loud, and bright. Not to mention noisy, distracting, and unsettling. Or maybe not! Thousands of bottles of unique and hard to find bottles of hot sauces and mustards line the walls above the booths and tables, and Spongebob, Mr. Krabs, and Velvet Elvis amongst others look down upon you as you dine. The tables have red and white checkered table cloths topped with brown wrapping paper (for bashing crabs - although they're not on the menu; or for drawing on). X-mas lights, Mardi Gras beads, Tiki Idols and treasure chests complete the scene! It's unique and fun, and there are TV's in the dining room which is nice when an important game is on; but the rest looks like an old Pizzeria Uno. The service is surprisingly good considering the seemingly teenage-high school girls that they hire, but it seems that all of the food on the menu comes out of a bag or a can from Sysco. Still, the Phillip's Shrimp Bisque is good! The menu is pretty extensive, although vegetarain items are somewhat excluded. But there is a Veggie Burger for $6.44, and the Treehugger Burrito for $8.19. Kids meals are inexpensive with a Hamburger & Fries for $2.99, Macaroni & Cheese for $3.33, or Kid Chicken Bites for $3.93; but the adult food seem a bit pricey for what it is. Appetizers are basically deep-fried and fall into the $7 to $9 range with some standout entries such as their Louisiana Sticks (corn tortilla sticks stuffed w/ Cajun cream filling mixed w/ chicken, garlis, and onion), Crab Pretzel (topped w/ crab dip and melted cheese), Crab Balls and Killer Chicken Egg Rolls. There are Wings ($7-13) and Quesadillas ($8-8.50) as well as Soup & Fresh Salad to get you started including their house specialty Cream of Crab Soup (recommended!), "Five Alarm" SPICY Chili ($2.86 cup), and numerous salad combinations ($2.49 for a house, but w/ most in the $8-9 range). Their Lightning Lunches satisfy the local employees with a bunch of wraps and sandwiches that include a brilliant Andouille Swiss Cajun Sausage PoBoy ($8.19) and Southern-style Chicken Ciabatta ($8.33). Their Gringo Tacos are good, and run $7.49 for a Voodoo past up to $8.89 for their Old Bay w/ shrimp & scallops! Fajitas, Ribs, Burgers, sandwiches and Hot Chicks (chicken dishes) round out the menu with a Cadillac Steak or Shrimp Fajita at $9.88, a half a rack of ribs at $8.98, a Parmagiana Chicken Panini at $8.22, a Krabby Patty at $8.19, and a Monster Chicken Melt at $8.17. The bar is separated by glass door and windows, and features a full bar and 5 of their own beers on tap. All of their beers are well-made, but without any stand-outs, and they do offer a fairly wide selection of imports if you'd like to stray. Try their red, IPA and stout. It's a nice bar with a wooden floor, lots of neon (maybe too much neon), and several TV's. And since it's separate, you can stop in and have a pint during the game without interfereing on anyone's lunch. So overall, it's a nice place to bring the kids when you go to the mall so that they can get their Smiley Face french fries and you can have a beer, but not much more.
