The color is black with a tiny, light brown head. The aroma is of average strength and consists of a dark roasted malt smell. The taste is of a rich dark roasted malt with a streak of coffee flavor. A moderate dryness enhances the flavor and bolsters the mouthfeel. This is a great American stout, I was close to being blown away, the best beer from my recent trip to The Bitter End.

Appearance: Deep mahogany brown, nearly black with a moderate tan head.
Aroma: Rich aroma of caramel, coffee, and bitter chocolate.
Taste: Taste begins tart and sour with prominent coffee and hop notes. An undercurrent of toasted malt carries the taste throughout. Finishes dry and acidic with a lingering hop bitterness.
Mouth feel: Not bad, but seemed a touch thin for the Stout style.
Drinkability/notes: Quite tasty, even on a rather warm summer day.
Sampled at the Texas Craft BrewerÂ’s Festival on June 7th, 2003.
