This is so-named as it is Bitter End's 1100th batch of beer, brewed especially and exclusively for the 2004 Texas Craft Brewers Festival in Austin. Looks like a typical dark amber but it has an aroma of candy sugar and dried fruit steeped in alcohol, lingering and mesmerising.
The taste is a rich, velvety flavor of sweet malts and raisins or currants without being cloying or overwhelming. High ABV but that is hardly noticeable as it is very, very smooth. Bitter End describes it as "a strong Belgian-style Quadruple brewed with dark candi [sic] sugar. OG 1.111, 20 IBU's, 12.1%"
Some may interpret it as a barley wine but this has distinctly quadruple flavors. My pick for best of show at the 2004 festival. A visit to the restaurant later than night led to a story from our server that this batch was almost lost down the drain when a piece of equipment or line broke and partially drained the tank. An extraordinary pity, since it is unlikely to be brewed again.
