This smoked porter was the best of the 4 beers I had on my visit to Bitter End. Appearance is a dark coffee color, head is minimal and light brown. Smell isn't very strong at all, which is surprising considering the strong flavors of this beer. Taste is smokey and complex. Roasted coffee flavors are present and mix well with mild sweetness. Ol' Smokey is fairly filling, but worked well as a nightcap for my Bitter End visit. Hopefully next time I'm in Austin they'll be serving this one, until then I'll have to seek out a smoked porter around Houston.
