Nice appearance for an export stout, pouring a very dark brown with a rocky tan head. ome nice lacing. Good dry roast aroma, with the anise coming through nicely as an accent. Even as someone who isn'ta big fan of anise, I do like how this has been integrated into the flavour. Big roasty flavours with a hint of ash, but mostly good strong coffee. As mentioned anise adds a nice herbal element without overpowering. Only drawback is I find it a little astringent on the palate. Good cask body, and as expected another great offering.

Volo Cask Days 2010. I like the style, enjoyed with Luc, co-brewer of this but the head brewer at DDC. Prominent roast. Opaque colour with a very bubbly cask head. Lots of roasted barley as opposed to coffee.Licorice root. Goulding and Amarillo hops. Medium mouthfeel. Good drinkability.
