Beer has a really interesting look. Brown with a pinkish tinge to it, which is also present in the head: a big, thick off-white head with a hint of pink or purple. Tonnes of staying power for the head, and good lacing. Great first impression.
Smell is pretty intriguing as well. Strawberry yogurt is the first thing that comes to my mind, accompanied by another scent that I found hard to place, but was sweet and reminiscent of either caramel corn or the scent of roasted nuts carts. Bizarre, but nice.
Taste is very unusual for a Quad. The lactobacilus really has a dramatic effect on the taste. So, it is pretty impossible to rate this beer "to style". However, I found it to be very nice. Slightly sour fruits (strawberry, prune and cherry) stick out, and a bit of sweet malt in the background. The standard quad flavours are present but faint. The balance that the quad-characteristics have on the lactobacilus element is nice, creating a mild sourness that works very well.
Mouthfeel is very good. Minimal carbonation. medium bodied, generally a great feel.
Definitely an interesting and unique beer, and one I was very happy to have. I hope this pops up again, as I would jump to drink another. I really thought about having a second, which is saying something given that Volo had a full slate of one-offs to try.

Bar Volo Night of Funk. Poor for the style, with lactose . Like sour milk and tons of sugar. Light mouth feel. Looks great however as it is opaque dark with a white head and lacey. A bit of malty sugary aroma, unlike the style. Some drinakbility. Coffee grounds.
