In Bavaria they toast spring with Maibock--a tasty idea, since the higher ABV of this lager warms you during the stray spring snow storm, while the bright color and lively flavor hint at sunny blue skies ahead. Our Maibock leads with Saaz hops for a spicy flavor and aroma, with Munich and Vienna malts imparting a touch of biscuit just before the crisp, clean finish.

22 oz. Bomber

Pours a nice brownish color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, bitter. The taste is malty, bitter. Medium body. Overall, a nice tasty brew.

Dark fruit nose. Caramel is prevalent. Low aftertaste. Nice mouthfeel.

Yum. Tasty. Strong hints of plum and stone fruit. Like it for a Maibock.

I picked this 22 oz beer up at the beer store in Colorado Springs on vacation because I like malty beers and it had goats on the label.

Well, this beer was outstanding. Poured a medium amber color with a nice head.

Excellent blend of malt, sweetness, and hops to complete the delivery.

Smooth and full bodied.

Poured a nice golden copper color, with a half inch head that faded to about an eighth inch, but laced nicely. The aroma is slightly sweet, a little sweet bread and some citrusy smells. The flavor is chock full of nice medium roasted malts, a little sweet, but not too much so, and a little spiciness. The mouthfeel was full and creamy, but with a nice amount of carbonation. Overall, it's not top-shelf, but pretty good, typical of most of Bristol's beers. Good stuff!

Poured from a bomber bottle. No information about ABV. Label does state that this maibock will be part of Bristol's Brewhouse Series of beers, so I assume this will become part of the regular beer style rotation.

Excellent deep gold body with gently rising carbonation bubbles and a thick, chunky, creamy head; rings of foam and lacing left on the glass. Nice malt and slightly spicy, slightly fruity aroma. Toasted grain flavors; well-balanced hop spiciness and bitterness; mild citrus flavor. Medium bodied; coarse; dry finish.

Bristol's maibock is a welcome addition to their beer lineup. It looks great and has excellent taste characteristics. There is no information on the label or the brewery's web site about ABV or ingredients, but that matters little when the beer itself comes across in a delicious and satisfying manner. It has the body of a bock beer and does an excellent job of blending together the malt and hop components in one palate-pleasing manner. An excellent brew for the Spring/Summer seasonal transition.
