Aged (quite appropriately, we think) in scotch barrels, this brew -- while richly aromatic -- is not big and heavy, as some barrel aged beers are. Instead we made it more approachable, so while you're enjoying subtle tones of molasses, whiskey, and caramel, you can still detect nuances of Lab.

Rich, dark amber body; thick; creamy head. Low-key aroma, primarily caramel. Nice malt flavor; caramel with a very light alcohol presence. Medium-heavy body; soft and velvety residual sugars; a bit of dryness from the alcohol.
A nice beer but exhibits little in the way of barrel aging. Per the brewery's "Fresh Sheet", the beer was aged in scotch barrels, but it seems to be missing in action as far as the smell and taste. Still, the beer is a fine, malt-forward ale with a respectable ABV to warm your insides.
