The name means 'Abbey Dark'. It's really dark brown with a nice shade of red. Carbonation low, modest off-white head, even more modest lacework.
Smell uncompomisingly malty, strengthened by caramel notes.
Start soft, malty. Body rather slim for a Dark Lager of relatively high alcojol content & gravity (13 degrees Plato), and there is a lack of hops in the finish. On the other hand, interplay of different malts, incl roasted, is quite nice, and no extra sweetness was noticed.
A decent beer. Worth a try.
