Poured from a 16 oz can into a spiegelau glass.
Pours a near pitch black color with a finger of effervescent tan head. The head leaves minimal lacing before settling into a golden crown.
The aroma is full of baker's chocolate, fudge, and chocolate malts. There's also some roasted coffee and black licorice with a hint of cola on the back end.
The flavor brings notes of chocolate syrup, cherry vanilla Coke, and roasted coffee. Different, but pleasant.
The feel is medium-full bodied with soft carbonation. A bit sticky with plenty of alcohol warmth.
Overall, a good Imperial stout that brings some interesting and unique flavors to the table whilst remaining true to its name and style. Definitely worth trying.

Appearance – No head on a hazy dark brown body.
Aroma – Light roasted malt and a bit fruity, overall somewhat weak.
Taste – Slight umami, a little soy sauce, slightly roasted, light pine.
Mouthfeel – Creamy and smooth.
Overall – Good body but weird almost meat flavor.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a black color with an inch of medium brown head. Virtually no lacing. Roasty, smokey aroma with some peanut butter and dark chocolate. The taste is coffee, peanut butter cups, nuts, roasted malts and char. Somewhat boozey. Peanut butter cup and roasted malt finish. Medium body with low carbonation. Worth buying again.

Description from CT Valley's website: Rich and smooth, our 10% Chocolate Imperial Stout invites you into its depths with a tantalizing aroma of dark chocolate before seducing your palate with its velvety mouthfeel. The roasted malts and cacao nibs combine to impart intense but balanced flavors of French-pressed coffee, chocolate truffles, and a slight sweetness that antagonize you to take another sip before leaving you longing with its deep bittersweet finish.
Tried this offering on draft. It poured dark jet black with little head. Overall, I did not get hardly any chocolate in the nose or on the palate when trying this beer. After enjoying other beers from CT Valley that were delicious, I was a bit disappointed in this one. It was not bad, just nothing remarkable for an imperial stout.
