Double Galaxy New England IPA. The style says it all: this single hop brew showcases the beauty of the Galaxy (hops, that is). Copious quantities of Galaxy are added at several stages of the brew to create this 8% beauty. Deceptively smooth but by no mean subtle, Fueled By Gravity hits your nose with bursting citrus aroma before caressing your palate with clean tropical flavors of mango, and undertones of zesty pineapple and hints of key lime. Experience for yourself what happens when Galaxies collide.

Taster flight at CVB. Cloudy golden pour, patchy white head. Aroma is lightly fruity, hoppy. Taste brings a sharp bite, fruity flavors, light hoppiness.

Phew! The recently-CANpleted New Trail run was way more extensive than I had envisioned at its outset! I have a number of beers from CT Valley for The CANQuest (tm) that I am CANxious to drink, review & rate & this shall be the first.
From the CAN: "When Galaxies Collide"; "Fueled by gravity Double New England Style India Pale Ale"; "Double Galaxy hops"; "Galaxy Series".
I got a sense that this beer might possibly involve Galaxy hops, but I was still a bit CANsure, so I Crack!ed open the vent for a steady C-Line Glug to see what was really what. It formed two-plus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, bone-white head with decent retention. Color was a hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose was very tropical fruity with a pineapple-passionfruit-guava quality initially, underlain by peach. Mmm. I need to reload on fruit cups at the store for my lunchbox! Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was less sweet than the nose had led me to expect. Instead, the fruitiness had a dried-fruit quality in which the flavor is more CANcentrated, less juicy & more towards the essence of the fruit. Disbelieve me? Bite into a fresh fruit then have a piece of dried fruit & you should note the difference. I liked this beer specifically for its dryness & make no mistake, it was bone-dry. Gaspingly dry. Asthma inhaler-time dry. A dry NEIPA?!? New to me, but I liked it! It retained the fruitiness normally imparted by the hops while keeping the sweetness fully in check. Obviously, finish was dry, but fruity & while that may seem like a CANtradiction in terms, it worked in this case. YMMV.

Hazy yellow with a thin white cap and lacing. Yuzu, pineapple, melon, lemon, and lime in the nose, hops are so mellow they are barely detected. Somewhat resinous melon, yuzu and lime lead, hop bitters are present now but short lived, fruits are not very vibrant but star. Feel is bright, fruity, decently clean and crisp, but there is some hop burn. Better options out there

5 oz pour on tap. Pours a hazy golden yellow with an off-white head. Aroma and flavor feature citrus up front with some dank tropical fruit and mild bitterness. Solid NEIPA.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Whole Foods, poured into a pint glass. Had a dirty orange color and an extremely cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.
S: A good aroma of hops, citrus fruit, tropical fruit, and malt.
T: Tasted of a good shot of citrus fruit (lemon and lime, especially), light malt notes (mostly in the finish), a moderate amount of hops (more than expected), and some tropical fruit (mango, in particular). A very solid and focused flavor. It's hoppier than most NE IPAs, but is still zesty and fruity enough to be interesting. Tasty stuff.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a smooth and creamy finish. Medium-bodied.
O: A rock solid NE IPA. Worth a look.
