Dark, like espresso. Thick, dense head lingers. Faint coffee aroma resembles some burnt caramel. Lactose not prominent. Again, the malt tastes over-roasted. Some coffee sediment at the bottom of the glass. A bit more lactose may help overcome the bitter taste.

A: Beautiful dark coffee pour slurps from the can with a oily sheen and viscosity. Light chocolate colored head sits atop 1.5 inches with a spongy texture topping and good retention rate.
S: Light chocolate and coffee nose. The label states "it's all about the coffee", unfortunately, it's not about the strength, freshness, or deepness of the experience. Lacking complexity the coffee aroma was a bit light and dry, one dimensional, very faint and hardly enticing.
T: Spicy chocolate for flavor, some peppery notes, oily coffee and a soft charred woodiness makes up somewhat for the lackluster nose. Dried coffee grounds on the finish along with some roasted pine.
M: Oily mouthful, good body, medium-full, slick in texture and nature, with hardly a note of carbonation.
O: Some decent coffee injections, but certainly not on the level of say a B.C.B.S. Not a lot of strength, but earthy roast did show some promise with more warming. A weak nose, pub sipper but hardly makes for an obsession.

From the tall boy can in a snifter. This rather nice coffee stout pours
a deep and dark blackish brown with thin cola highlights and a nice head
of tan foam that settles to a thin ring, subtle wispy pool, and displays some
nice sudsy lacing. Nose of roasted coffee (duh!), subtle char, and hints
of sweet cream and chocolate. Flavors are a perfect pint of smooth
char touched coffee and mild dark chocolate malt notes amongst
light smoke and dark malts with light touches of herbal hops
dancing amongst caramel and cream flavors. Nice mouth feel; almost
full body, smooth, coating, lightly sweet and heavy burdened with char
and light smokey bitter malt notes on the finish.
A first from this brewery here, and one I would enjoy more of,
that said their brewing profile seems to sport more in the
vein of IPA's that anything else making choices a touch
lop-sided. Still a solid stout and a welcome addition
to the Jungle Jim's Eastgate landscape!
Cheers
