Picked up a growler today at the brewery.$12.50, plus $3 for their growler..the only growler they will fill....booo...anyway, brewer tells me its their red ale, fermented out using a Belgian yeast..not sour, so Belgian plae seemed to be the most fitting style.
Pours murky, red infused darker amber. Nice frothy head, tiny bubble film and more then respectable rings of sheeting and fine lace.
Just a hint of malt and lite spicing in the nose.
Easy drinking ale, nice undercoating of malt, more then moderate drying hop package midway and then a pleasing spice presence, follows through in the finish. Comes together well, no element out of place. Spices consist of lite nutmeg, and some coriander.
Belgian characteristics quite muted, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Nice cold weather sessioner.
