Appearance: dark black color with a thin tan colored head that breaks apart immediately. No lacing develops.

Smell: roasted malts and chocolates are nice and easy to detect.

Taste: big roasted malts, caramels, chocolates, molasses, and a hint of coffee grounds. Some prune sweetness, mild bitterness, and alcohol tones round it out.

Mouthfeel: medium-heavy in body. Aftertaste is long. Smooth from start to finish.

Drinkability: not a bad RIS, but the overall flavor needs to be kicked up a bit. Defintely worth a try.

Nice thick looking pour, almost pure black. Tan head with small bubbles, some chunks forming.
Smell is rich chocolate and coffee, with roasted malt and some spice. Black pepper, perhaps.
Tastes of smooth cream, a bit light though. Smoked cocao and coffee, toffee and roasted malt. some dryness in the finish.
A good brew, worth trying.

This pours pitch black and has a nice, dense, lasting tan foam head. The aroma is rich, chocolate, overripe fruit, a bit of char. There’s also a slightly winey character (almost port) in there as well. The beer is complex in flavor, but something is keeping it from being a top-tier imperial stout, although I’m not sure if it’s a lack of something or just that what it has doesn’t go together all that well. Still, far from being a bad beer. Moon River does pretty well with it’s higher gravity beers.
