Served in a very nice wine glass @ Moon River.
Appearance: Head dissipates quickly but can be reswirled easily to recharge. Decent lacing around the glass. A little lighter than I expected, but a nice hazy yellow. Not as many bubbles as I expected either.
Smell: Lots of odd sweetness because of the oats. Some floral and citrus hops. Pretty good balance and a novel aroma with the oats; it's like nothing I've ever really come across.
Taste: An odd hop bite mixed with a weird sweetness that comes from the oats and not as much from the malts. I'm glad they took a chance with this, because it's pretty damn original. The initial weirdness turns into a sweet and slightly fruity hop bite and finishes with something peculiar I can't put my finger on. Thumbs up for a risky brew.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied and coating but not cloying. Carbonation levels are right too, which contribute to the aforementioned.
Drinkability: They serve this in a wine glass, so I imagine it's about 8 to 10 ounces, and that's all you really need in one sitting, especially at the almost 10% ABV. I know it could be a lot better with more balance in everything, but as it is now I really dig it. Definitely a sipper, and it went well with my burger too.
