( 23/50, 5% alc/vol, Home, cookin tacos) Very dark, smooth and translucent mohaganey colored ale. Small disc of light toasty brown bubbles that dont lace, but seem to last long enough. Some acidic turned oats seem to dwell inside of a surprisingly molastic nutty sweet ale. Its age is showing in the nose. Rather malty, smell of boiled grain. A lot of grain, dry and mash flavours. Oddly constructed, and doesnt give off favorable complexity. Flavours of chestnut, brown sugar and molasses are thin, and complemented with a dry crisp finish. The mouth is weird, giving sweet yet dry peanuty crispiness. Lingers in the aftertaste as a dry chestnut. Not as fulfilling as you'd like from a brown ale. Rather simple, yet seems to have aged too quickly. Im pretty sure it would fare much better fresh and from a tap. The essence is there for flavours, just doesnt deliver on it's potential. I'd try it with spicy sausages.

I love their nut brown, and the bourbon barrel was great, so I was looking forward to this.
A: Hazy chestnut, off-white head, good retention, awesome lacing.
S: Tobacco, nut bread, dark fruit, brown sugar, woody, spicy, slight sweet aroma (maple?).
T: Nut bread, woody, great fruity esters, slight grassy spicyness, modest bitterness.
M: Moderate body is creamy and smooth, lower than moderate carbonation.
D: Good, but somehow it didn't seem completely together...
