Interesting but a little disapointing. Big vanilla coffee aromas, but is it real or artificial? Thick lace on a black body.Above average mouthfeel. Brandy barrel would have added welcome complexity. This was just a flavoured coffee mix with some beer. Good for what that is.So-so drinkability.

On tap at the Black Oak/Cheshire Valley tap takeover at Volo. Into a tulip.
Poured pitch black with a brown head that fades to a collar. Nose has a ton of coffee, dark chocolate, roast. Vanilla/cream notes are evident as well, but not prevalent. Some light milky sweetness. Curious as to what kind of coffee was used here. Taste is coffee-forward, lactose and milky notes, roastiness and some cream again. Sweet, creamy and thick feel, full body and just a great mouthfeel overall. Long roasty finish and some moderate bitterness. Just fantastic.
Had the Brandy-barrel version of this last week as well, and thought that was superior. It was suggested by the brewers that the Brandy version was in the 10% ABV range, and if that is comparable for the base beer, it was superbly masked. I really hope that they consider putting this brew together again.
