On cask at Black Oak's 11th Anniversary party. A variation on the Nut Brown, with chocolate and ancho chilies added to the cask.
Pours a muddy and grainy brown (some resemblence to sewer water?), no head or lace. Nose has some chocolate, berries and a hint of the ancho chili spice. Some sort of sweet candied note too. Taste has more of the berry and chocolate notes, with a spicy chili finish. Not much in the way of chili flavour, but a substantial amount of the heat. Chili burn persists in the throat long after each sip, and is a tad off-putting. Medium full body with some lingering nut and fruity notes. Low carbonation, even though this was dispensed from a torpedo, maybe the spice killed it? Quite nice all around, but one glass of this was more than enough (perhaps too much even). Excellent to pair with the sausage gumbo offered at the party as well.
