Tasted by a pint at the Prince of Wales, Bents Green, Sheffield. Sparkler-poured in a straight imperial pint glass.
A: bright amber in colour, coming with a tight creamy milky froth and low carbonation.
S: Goldings fruitiness with a touch of apple-ish hint, also a tad grassy and resinous in terms of hoppiness. As it warms, a swirl gives rise to a mildly eggy-sulphurous note, but overall not unpleasant.
T: a good malty backbone supports a tea-ish bitter palate and melted fruity hopts... turning increasingly chewy bitter in the aftertaste, where yeasts and a lightly burned taste of malts also linger.
M&D: the palate is lubricating and light-bodied, albeit not so "creamy" as the northerners like to make of it. As BSF commented, for a mass-produced ale this one doesn't disappoint too much. In fact, when it's fresh it could well serve as a quaffable pint, although one pint was enough to quench my thirst and stopped pleasing my tastebuds any more.

There was not much in this beer that I liked. It poured in a yellow color and didn't smell much of anything. The fine foam was solid, though. It was a bitter alright. The taste was dominated by the absence of carbonation and the comparatively low ABV. I noticed that most of the guests in the pub where I was gave the two bitters (the other was Greene King) a miss and went for Carlsberg Lager instead. What's the world coming to? Seriously, I think the taste of the same cask beer can vary a lot from one pub to another, and I may have been in the wrong place.

Dark amber with a nice white head for a cask brew. Aromas of subtle malts and gentle hops in a nice unison. Taste is one-dimensional but pleasing to the palate. Mouthfeel is nice, as this is on cask and the drinkability is actually very good. For a very mass-produced beer, it is nice to see how well this one still is. A solid brew on te handpump and sometimes available for only about 1.50 a pint (even in Camden somehweres if memory serves me)
