I got a bottle of Carlsberg's Fallout Beer that a friend shared with me. I've never really played the game before, but I'm, always down to try a new beer out, so lets see how it goes. 2015 Vintage. Poured from a green 11.2oz glass into a imperial pint glass.
A- The label is nice, it goes with the name and it;s eye catching. It poured a clear yellow color that took on more of a brighter yellow color when held to the light with a little over a fingers worth of white bubbly head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left lots of small spotty lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, no complaints.
S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the signature green bottle skunky aroma being the first to show up and it leads into a little bit of fruity yeast with some stonefruit aromas showing up which leads into some doughy yeast. Up next comes the malts which impart a pale malt like aroma. The aroma is decent, it's pretty close to average for a euro Pils.
T- The taste seems to be fairly similar to the aroma, but more balanced and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the just a slight skunky aspect carrying over and it goes right into the yeast which is more doughy than fruity. Up next comes the malts which impart a bready, grainy and pale malt flavors. On the finish there's not bitterness with just a little bit of sweetness taking it's place and it had a little bit of some watery grainy flavors in the aftertaste. This is a pretty nice tasting beer, it's just what I expect from a euro Pils.
M- Smooth, crisp, clean, light bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice and it works well with this beer.
Overall I thought this was a nice beer and I thought it was a solid example of the style it had pretty much all the aspects that I expect from the style and just about everything lined up for the style. This beer had nice drinkability, I could drink a couple,. but I might start to get bored with it after that. What I like the most about this beer is the taste and appearance, those are the highlights to me. What I like the least about this beer is the aroma, I could go without that green bottled skunked aspect. I might buy this beer if I saw it and I would recommend it to people who enjoy the style, but it's not for everyone. A;; in all I thought this beer was nice and it was better than I was expecting, this style can be hit or miss and so can novelty beers, so I thought the odds weren't on it's side. but this one surprised me and it beat the odds. It's one of my new favorite Carlsberg beers and it's above average for the style. nice job guys,. this is a nice and true to style beer.
