A 500ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2015. Purchased a little while back from a B&M store. The label gives a subtle nod to Xmas.
A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A deep coppery-amber hue with medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.
S: Aroma of caramel malt with hints of toasted grain, fruity ale yeast, mild spice, stewed leaves and faint earthiness. Pretty average.
T: Tastes of caramel malt with a faint roasty character and a subtle finish. Notes of fruity ale yeast, toasted grain, husks, stewed leaves, faint barley sugar and a twinge of cardboard in the background. Slightly sweet, followed by a mild bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with soft carbonation and decent body. Faintly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of caramel malt, fruity yeast and vague stewed leaves.
O: Meh - OK but not particularly exciting. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are a fairly staid blend of caramel malt, ale yeast, toasted grain and stewed leaves. Body is decent enough. Not especially Christmassy and generally unexceptional. No need to hunt it down.

It's drinkable
It's not quite a Christmas treat
It's all a bit muted
The brown sugar & plums on the taste & aroma
Its also a bit thin
& so fizzy it couldn't be kept in the bottle.
