A new addition to the lineup at Capt. Ankeny's (congrats to brewer Ken Johnson for adding the account). My first time to try this one; served in a pint glass with a pizza slice.
15 IBU, 4.8% ABV
A: Golden yellow, mostly clear. Served with an efficient 1/2 of creamy white head. Spotty lace left behind. Active, not overly abundant carbonation.
S: Usually not much smell from the style, so this is spot on, I guess. Mild malts, with a trace of buttery sweetness.
T: Likable maltiness, sweet and a little macro-lager like (corn adjunct), which is ok per the style. Enough grassy hopping to keep the sweetness from straying too far. Flavors tend to flatten a little as this warms; it's one of the rare exceptions I can recall when a beer seemed to taste better when at its coldest.
M: Suitably creamy in the mouth with a soft, light feel across the palate. An ever-so-slight hop bittering present on the back of the tongue.
D: Quite drinkable...simple but very well made. A nicely crafted lager alternative, perfect for warm spring/summer weather and for drinking more than one of. Nice job, Fearless.
