Reviewed from long-standing notes. Poured from a bomber into a Russian River pint glass.
A: Nice medium gold, with a fair amount of haze - more surprising as it's listed as a lager. Just over a finger's worth of white head with decent retention and fairly low visible carbonation.
S: Resin, flowery, and grassy hops; less onion and melon but they're there too. A touch of spicy hops as well. Clean crisp cracker and two-row malts in this lager, and no pilsner malts on the nose.
T: Flowery and melon and resin hops. Crisp two-row malts with just a bit of pilsner malt towards the end; although the pilsner character grows as the beer warms through the drink. Minimal pilsner-induced sulfuric though. Resin and onion hop flavors with moderate bitterness in the hang.
M: A light, crisp body, good carbonation sensation, and the alcohol is noticeable but not at all over the top.
O: Not bad, but the hop profile really isn't my favorite. Too much onion/spice and grassy character. Nothing I'd be in a rush to drink again, but decent.

Looks the same as every other beer in the world
Peppery lemony dank florals melon tangerine
Spicy earthy candied orange malts, lightly bitter hops. Sort of a wine personality to it
Medium body. Minimal carbonation
Fermented sweetness. It's fine. I guess.

Look: It pours a cloudy orange, almost the color of pineapple juice. It has a moderate head that does leave lacing on the side of the glass.
Smell: It has aromas of citrus hops, mango, and a touch of grass.
Taste: The initial flavor highlights a zestful punch of lime, citrus, a bit of mango, and a touch of grass.
Feel: It has a moderately high level of carbonation and a sharp, but moderate bitter finish. It is moderately light on the palate.
Overall: The citrus fruit flavors of lime make this a bit unique from most American Doubles that I have had. It is a bit sharp in the finish, but not from being overly bitter, from the combination of the hops.

From the 22 oz bottle, it pours a somewhat pale hazy amber with a small head. Hops are evident in the nose. Hoppy bitterness on the tongue. Intriguing taste.

"It's survival of the fittest out there. Time to fill the tank. Take a load off, weary traveler, and a break from the lawless and dusty terrain of your post-apocalyptic wonderland with a double India pale lager that recalls earth as it should be." Brewed in the style of a Double India Pale Lager, available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft.
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass. Served above degrees Fahrenheit.
(Appearance) Pours a frothy crisp head of a pastel white color over a mildly hazy amber body with very little carbonation. Retention is good and lacing is light and spotty. 3.75
(Smell) Dry cracker and pale malt body teams up with bold grassy, earthy and piney hop aromas for a beer that smells very much like a solid Czech Pilsner, lightly dry with a reserved sweetness and a bold hop presence. Potency is moderate. 4
(Taste) Pilsner grain and pale malts generate a smooth, light body with a humbled sweetness. The hop profile is moderately bitter with grassy, herbal and mild fruity and lemony character. Finishes moderately dry with a lingering fruit and lemongrass bitterness. Overall the body is subtle enough to suggest a much lighter gravity IPL. 3.75
(Mouthfeel) The texture is silky, slick, lightly chewy, moderately dry. Carbonation is medium, generating a modest frothiness and a moderately crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, shy of medium for the style. Balance is moderately bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.75
(Overall) This is a very enjoyable collaboration ale between two local breweries who don't get enough attention with their new releases like this. I'm a bit surprised this hasn't had a few more registered samplings as it has been out on the market for the better part of a year, but the few stores who carry their lineup of products are certain to keep it around for a good while. Nicely constructed, good hop profile, worth a try. 3.75
