Persisent thin tan head sate on a dark amber / burnt orange body. Initial smell had me double check to see that I hadnt ordered a pumkin beer. The nose had a lot of the same sweet maltiness and spice that you find in a lot of pumkin beers. Listed on The Porter (Atlanta) draught list as a sweet potato brown, I anticipated the toasty malt, and the hint of brown sugar, but not the ginger-like spiciness. Taste followed the nose, but wasn't as spicy as I expected from the smell. That said, can't say I was a big fan of the taste either. Maybe just not my thing, but definitely not what I expected and the taste started to wear on me as I worked my way through this pint.

Poured from the tap at Taco Mac in Douglasville, GA. The appearance is a dark clear amber with a small off white head. The aroma is sweet potato and some spices. The flavor is slightly watery with a mild sweet potato flavor. Not bad.

16 ounce pint - $5.75 at Taco Mac in Woodstock, Georgia.
Appearance: Served up a medium brown body with a slim, scattered, off-white head. Admirable lacing on the way down.
Smell: Toasty malts casually pie spice-spiced conjoined to a hint of sweet potato wrapped in some slight, subtle esters.
Taste: Well-toasted maltiness given a sweetish nibble of dark brown sugar. Very, very small pinch of cocoa on the front-end. Lightly estery. A subtle Autumnal spiciness shows its face now and again. Mild sweet potato taste. A little bitterness present. Smooth, malty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Reasonably smooth mouthfeel.
Overall: A satisfying brown ale that gives you a bit of the spice and sweet potato without straying too far from the brown ale archetype.
