I should have been warned by the other review of this spring seasonal offering by Suntory, the forgotten beer giant of Japan. I was lured into the purchase by the pretty pink cherry blossoms on the can and my desire for the neverending Hokkaido winter to end..

The beer is a thin yellow, with light, fast-fading bubbles. The nose is sweet and appealing.

The taste is quite bad, reminding me of some of the worst happoshus yen can buy. There's a light, roasted grain taste which appeals...until...the incredibly nasty aftertaste hits, which sends shivers through the body. Think household dish cleanser, think industrial-grade chemicals, think..

Mouthfeel is average, but the taste prevents any possibility of a repeat purchase.

Ingredients: malt (less than 25% by volume), hops, barley, saccrified starch.

Brewed Feb 2004
Consumed March 2004
Expiration date October 2004

Frothy white head, rather noisey.
Piss yellow body (I should have be warned as to its smell just from the color).

The delicate aroma of a dive bar.

Light cheap thin adjunct flavor. So this is what saccrified starch tastes like. I would hate to have to admit to my mother that I wasted a whole buck on something so entirely devoid of value.
