Pours a light straw color with a big fizzy head that fades quickly to traces of lacing. Aroma is very mild with a bit of malt sweetness and bit of grain. Taste continues with a bit of malt sweetness and not much more. Just a bit of bitterness and a very dry finish. Light body, smooth and quite bland. not much here unless you are into dry lagers.

500ml can poured into pint glass 4/4/14
A clear straw yellow, lots of little bubbles, tiny suspended particles moving around, a short lived finger of foam leaves no lace
S stale crackers, almost smells of sorghum but I'm pretty sure there's none in the beer, some apple juice, and dried hay
T more of the same really, tastes like a macro lager but nothing offensive and in all honesty not much going on
M not quite watery but very light, bubbles give it some life and a fairly clean finish
O not a whole lot going on, light bodied, light flavour, meh
about as basic as they come but at least nothing overly offensive. I bought this on a whim thinking it might be a style tic remembering Suntory makes Happoshu and I got lucky, just Sahti to go now

Can: a big, dodgy silver can. Don't like cans like this, they look... cheap.
Appearance: vibrant - almost fluorescent - yellow, with a fluffy white head that disappears quickly. Not a good start.
Aroma: heavy, pungent grains of uncertain origin. Not much else at all, and none too pleasant.
Taste: eugh. Just a big whack of those pungent grains. I poured half of it out as I couldn't bring myself to stomach the rest.
Aftertaste: dissipates quickly enough, thank goodness.
Mouth feel: clean and crisp with a big carbonation.
Overall: a fairly cheap but fairly nasty beer. Not sure if it's that the Happoshu style doesn't agree with me or what, but this is not worth drinking.

Nice color for happoshu, but there was something almost oily in it. that I found more-or-less disturbing. The smell was very tinny with a bit of sulfur thrown in for good measure. Still, for low-malt beer, it was pretty malty with a dry, boozy finish. Unfortunately, it was very tinned. The mouthfeel was pretty smooth, and I must say, while I will never choose this beer again, I would drink it again were it given to me.

suntory appears to have a slight edge over the other j-macros as far as happoshu goes. i wouldn't recommend this as a general beer, but if you are in the market for a digestable happoshu, this is drinkable.
nothing special to say about the appearance or smell, i will now refer you to every other review of every other near-beer. the taste, however, deserves a note. it's pretty bitter. probably has more character and flavor than many others. i still prefer any other beer style listed and defined here on BA over any happoshu.
