At roughly $1.50 a can, it's hard to beat this for cost performance. It's not a wonderful barleywine by any standard, but it's a decent strong Euro ale.

And here we have it, the craft line from Suntory (brewed in Tokyo, JP) came up with a barleywine for 2018, a limited series. Well, it was quite good to be honest, but as a barley wine I found it slightly weak - or at least not as intensive as barley wines are regularly. It reminded me more of a bock or a double bock.
Lookes quite good though, golden amber with a pleasant, sweet and dense (aszĂș) wine aroma. The flavor was quite like grapes or raisins aged in a bourbon barrel, which was quite good. The alcohol was quite well hidden in the sweet and almost creamy, syrupy maltiness that was surprisingly drinkable and not too overwhelming. I found this much better than any others from the Tokyo Craft series.
