Okay so this is a happoshu, a beer-like drink made with shochu (spirits) - so we are talking about a "beer-like drink" and not a "real beer..."
They claim this time though that this Itadaki is "almost like a real beer" which is nearly true in this case. Looks proper and smells - and even to sone extent - it does also taste like beer. However, the booziness is different than of an 8% ABV real beer, it is burnt spirits that hits you.
The taste would be okay if it was a real beer, it is on the heavier side with more body. But like this, as a happoshu, was okay to try once but most probably I will never drink it again - nor any other happoshu. Would be nice if Japan produced proper beers in a greater variety instead of wasting effort on such inferior stuff...
