Okay, how was last year’s edition?
Don’t remember anymore so it’s hard to make a comparison so let’s just try to focus on how this one is like. A British (style) Barley Wine, meaning that it’s not supposed to be that hoppy but instead more malty and sweet. Well, that part works, it’s actually quite sweet, to be honest even a bit too sweet for me...
Even though it’s 9% ABV, it’s not that boozy, quite drinkable (for instance, an Olde English at 7.5 is much boozier and less drinkable, just for a comparison). It is quite fruity, not overwhelmingly malty, quite good for a Japanese beer. But still might not be a true Barley Wine though...
