Feb. 2007: 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned. Hazy golden brown colour, moderate head. Unusual sweetish aroma, jam, cooked vegetables, hay. Malty flavour with a noticeable sweetness, some caramel and fruit, and a distinct "bite" from the Progress hops in the finish and aftertaste. Not bad at all!

Cask. Clear amber. Big frothy head.
A nicely balanced aroma of English hops and malt which continues nicely into the flavour.
Moderate body. Lovely cask conditioned feel.
Traditional English Ale.

500ml Bottle: best before Sep 20013, poured into a UK pint sleeve @ home on 8th Dec 2012.

Amber, clear and bright, sadly the head left before I had a chance to appreciate it (I hate that).

I expected the nose and taste to be Hoppy, but it certainly isn't overly hopped: the main aroma being caramel and other semi-sweet malts, as is the taste. The Progress hops do give the beer a crisp hop finish but there are not enough of them to take over from the dominant malts within the brew.

I like malty beers and I enjoyed this, just thought it was going to be hoppy because of the name.

Nice amber body with slightly spotted big bubbled white head.

Nice hops and sugars on the nose touch of mineral bath salts.

Big caramel taste driving into a deep hop taste slight mineral water tastes but actually compliments the beer here finishing with yeasty peppery bitterness.

Alright Mouthfeel makes a half decent beer.

Slightly citrussy, woody and eastery. Just a hint of must and a touch of caramel.

Crystal clear, copper colour, small, tight, white head. Quite creamy.

This is a classic Special Bitter. Mild, clean malts with a hint of toffee. Moderate bitterness with some light earthy notes and a hint of citrus. On the whole it is okay but doesn't highlight the Progress hops as it claims it does.

Medium body with moderately low carbonation.

An easy drinking beer but it fails to execute what it sets out to do.

Thought I'd pen a review of this as it's been one of my favourites for years. Not that easy to get hold of so I usually make sure there's one or two in whenever I put in a big mail-order.
A - A very inviting clear copper with thin white head.
S - Orangey, spicey.
T - Sort of like orange peel with lingering bitterness.
M- Quite smooth with a little fizz.
D- That bitter aftertaste has me reaching for the next sip almost right away.

If you like Timothy Taylor Landlord and others of that ilk, give this a try.

Pours golden orange with a thin white head that's gone fast. Nose is husk and sour orange. Nutty malts with some apricot, with a lactic, vegetal hit in the middle. Tight, dry, puckering finish.

I like the idea but I'm not sure Progress is a good choice for a single hop brew. Actually hurts the drinkability more than a normal bitter.

This beer sounds and looks quite interesting on the label it has a rabbit jumping over a beetle with a beer in its hand/paw and it says on the label it uses just one single hop variety Progress,to achieve its appealing aroma and i must admit they are quite right it pours a nice clear copper colour which leaves a nice two finger frothy head that dissapates quite quickly to look like a stretch of little islands of frothy head here and there with nice sticky lacing down the glass here and there aswell,it has nice fruity hop aromas and like the label said is quite appealing indeed,this is not a hop varietry that im very familiar with but in saying that i do like its character and fresh grassy notes it gives off and actually makes this bitter not bitter at all its such a pleasant beer that i could easliy drink more than two of in a session and will be buying more of.
