500ml bottle, best before Apr 2012, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard 4 Nov 2011.
Lovely autumnal red colour, the white head sadly wispy and weak: a collar stayed throughout the review, but I want a head on my beer!
Woody aroma, pine hop and some malty molasses in the nose too.
The beer has a smooth semi-sweet malt front, some hop bitterness appears half way through each mouthful and gives the beer a harsher finish than expected from the initial taste.
Fairly rich and thick body wise, its clear looks giving no indication of its depth.
I love beers this colour and with a malt swetness, what a pity the head couldn't stay with the tasting.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
