This beer (named, much to Jon's chagrin, by Monique - Burlington luvs you, kitten!) and poured off the tap for me at the pub on 03/03/09, was an opaque black. The one finger of tan head displayed good retention, especially as a collar and left thin bands of consistent lacing. The aroma was light, chocolate, roasted barley and hints of coffee. The flavor profile was similar and distinctly dry but better defined; starting on a note of roasted barley, I then tasted some coffee, chocolate malt, hints of smoke and blackened malt, a long cereal malt middle similar to a fibrous Kellogg's cereal followed by the finish which was surprisingly crisp when the bittering hops cleaned it up. The mouthfeel was smooth, the body full and the carbonation light. Sessionable and organized without being heavy, I enjoyed this beer and would recommend it.
