Pours a dirty blonde color with a thin head into my flute glass
Aroma is full of sour notes with a hint of spice from the yeast. Definitely a saison.
Taste is full of apple and grape with a decent amount of spiciness from the yeast. A mild alcohol burn.
Mouthfeel is full of lingering grape and apple, along with alcohol. Decent and slightly deceptive.
I like it. I think that Three Needs is capable of making experimental interpretations of various styles. This one of their strongest beers I've seen and it reminds me that Jon can do great things when he wants. If they promoted the house beers more, they might be able to capture a more appreciative audience (other than thirsty college students looking for cheap pints of otter creek).

12oz pour in a pilsner glass at 3N. $3.75
Pours a crystal clear golden yellow with almost no white head. Nosing reveals that maybe some of the malt was undermodified. Smells wide open and sweet with some corn husk aromas, light "fruit basket" fruitiness and a wee tiny bit-o-funk.
Palate is fat and slick with some residual sugars that get snapped into check by a brett influence and are rounded into a dry, slightly woody texture. Carl pointed out that it reminds him of Orval: brett-ed Belgian pale ale dried out by a secondary yeast. Flavors are of a large malt-bill lager with a slight Belgian/funk yeast influence.
All in all the 8% ABV is well-hidden. This is a fairly simple brew, but not out of balance at all given the stats.
