Good all around, American craft-brewed Schwarzbier that I found to be pretty true to its name (Kulmbach-styled).
This beer was deeply dark, nearly black through and through. A hint of lacing remained as I drank. Smell was not as strong as I might have anticipated, but was in-line: sweet and fresh smelling, with a bit of graininess which cut into the nose. Good, rich taste. Slightly sweet characteristics, but with up-front chocolate and back-edge roastiness -- more than what I might expect from the Kulmbach area, but not overdone.
Overall a beer I would be proud to have brewed.
