I first sampled this beer a year ago at the brewery but had to wait a year to drink a glass until my revisitation coincided with a repeat offering. I wasnt disappointed. RIOS, as it is known, is firmly opaque with a thin filmy head and widespread tan lace. A light chocolaty aroma betrays a taste of dark roasted graininess with a light creamy overlay. Alcohol intrudes somewhat in both the taste and smell creating a flavor I want to describe as black cognac.
Medium bodied with a glassy mouthfeel and light, smoky finish. A very satisfying winter seasonal.
