Presentation: Sampled from one of four ever-rotating Guest Beers on sale at the Wakefield Labour Club (a.k.a. The Red Shed) during a recent trip back home to England. A Seasonal brew from the rarely seen but very good Mordue Brewery.
Appearance: Golden orange with a snaggled head, one of those which sticks to the sides of the glass and pulls itself this way and that, breaking up in the process but always leaving a terrific looking lacing.
Nose: Lemon and bitter hops amongst a soft sweet malt background. Depressed strength but the aromas are there.
Taste: Hops are floral in nature and impart a flowery middle and a finish that has a hint of hop oil perfume in the finish. The malts struggle to enter throughout and the flowery hops are a bit too girlie for me.
Mouthfeel: Medium body that errs towards a thin feel rather than an above average one. After a Pint, the body starts to loose its sparkle and exhibit a watery feel. Average, overall, just.
Drinkability: A spring time session brew which doesnt really do enough to keep my interest beyond the first Pint.
Overall: OK, nothing special, just another low key session Blond ale which has a splash of citric floral hops to break up the boredom.
