650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Brown body, not too dark. Almost a deep amber. Nice khaki head. Very wispy.

Smell - Nutty with some chocolate. Faint hop. Toast brown malts.

Taste - Very nutty again. Hops are more prevalent, but they don't dominate. Bit of grapefruit. Toasty bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Well carbonated and just a little bit of bitterness.

Overall - Really well made brown ale. Balance of hops and nutty malts is great.

Poured a half finger of head on a see-through brown colored body.
The aroma is great. Nutty, cocoa and milk.
The taste wanders a bit. Sweet and creamy to moderate bitterness at the end. Interesting.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
The flavor wasn't great. It was disjointed.

This place deserves some serious attention. This was hands down the best brown ale I've ever had.

I rarely feel compelled enough to review a beer, unless it stands out bad or good. This was exceptional. Beautiful reddish brown- decent lace. Persistent, light tan foam on top. Aroma of milk chocolate, a bit of earthy hops. Flavor hit's you with earthy tobacco, more malted milk chocolate, nuttiness, and moderate bitterness that comes on the mid palate and finishes out clean. Deliciously smooth. The perfect balance, all at a hearty 7.6%. I usually like a lower alcohol, but this doesn't even register.

There are plenty of brown ales out there, but I really do believe it's a hard thing to do so well, so truly harmoniously. So all the more kudos to them.

Bottle purchased at Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa as recommended by Zack. Thanks.

A: Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights capped with 1/4" off-white head which ebbs to the rim leaving spotty lace.

N: Lucious dark chocolate and cocoa powder infused with roasted coffee and vanilla.

T: Chocolate cake followed by roasted and slightly burnt faint coffee. Nutty with an oaky vanilla finish.

M: Creamy and rich. Full bodied and medium carbonation. Some dryness on the finish.

O: Surprisingly good. Want more of this.
