Enjoyed on a hot summer day on-tap at Angelic here in Madison.

Poured a jet black with small tan head, typical for the style. Nose is of bitter coffee with some fruity notes. Taste continues with the burnt coffee with fruity grape and clove notes which add some sweetness to balance out the hoppy bitterness. Carbonation seemed a little heavy for the style, but made for a more refreshing brew on this humid 90 degree day. Body was heavy but not too heavy. Overall a solid and tasty stout enjoyable on the hottest of days.

Bottle given to me by the Brewers at Angelic.

Poured into a pint glass, this beer appeared a deepest of deep brown colors; basically black.

The aroma was mostly sharp patent malt with a little bit of roasted barley. Very unusual, almost like a strong porter. Little hop aroma in the impression.

Taste was very well balanced, with a lingering sweetness to offset the hops.

Mouthfeel was medium to full, and slight chewy texture.

Overall, one of the best session ale stouts I've ever had. I love this beer.

Good dark appearance, even if it has somewhat limited head retention.

Strong roast barley aroma. Little else noticed on the nose, but OK and not overwhelming. Not a big negative, but just not that complex.

Good hops bitterness and flavor that balanaces well with the malt character and fits well to style.

Mouthfeel a little thin.

This is a very basic stout, uncomplex and not too adventurous. It's decent, but I feel a little unfulfilled. Not A-list Angelic material.

Well, just like I copped to in my review of Weyerbacher's Heresy, I am surely a Sinner, so this is the stout for me.
It arrived with a nice tan head, which it retained well throughout. It was an incredibly dark beer with a nose of chocolate and coffee. It had a really creamy mouthfeel, despite its being CO2-fed, vice N2. I got a very intense flavor of chocolate on the finish, but strangely, after a while, the chocolate gave way to a nice coffee flavor. Finally, there was great Belgian lace throughout.

Half Gallon growler from the brewpub. Pours black with a dark brown bubbly head. Aroma consists of roasted chocolate malt and cocoa while turning more roasted coffee-like as the stout warms. Medium-bodied mouthfeel is silky smooth. Dark malt and chocolate flavors coat the the tongue. Turns a bit grainy and husky toward the finish. Light hop flavor creates a mild dryness. Very easy drinking. Overall a pretty decent oatmeal stout.

Nice and black with ruby tintings. Tan foams lasts most of the way down.
Mildly roasted aroma. Pleasant, though far from overwhelming.
Chewy dark malt texture. Oaty sweetness is mixed with a slightly toasted burnt molassess flavor. Light smokiness dances in the breeze. Hops are negligable, but do just enough towards the finish.
Medium heavy bodied. Thick and creamy. Never oppressive
Good oatmeal stout, all around.
An Angelic staple, always good for sessions.
