Apparently aged in bourbon barrels, this batch of Double Kiltlifter was served on-tap at 38 Degrees. On to the beer:
I'm not sure if this was beer or straight bourbon. Even the base of Double Kiltlifter couldn't hold the power of the bourbon. It smells like straight bourbon with not beer in sight. It tastes a lot like bourbon and oak with just a note of the base beer. It's a medium bodied beer, but very boozy.
On its own, this is too boozy. But with a triple layer chocolate cake, this works much better.

B+
At the source. Served in a goblet. Ruby walnut, minor light mocha color head, minimal lacing. Vivid shiny crystal clear garnet when only an inch remains.
Soft aroma. Slightly sweet, oaky it seems, caramel vanilla peat.
Taste not nearly as sweet as expected, sharp dry herbal metallic peat evolves the aftertaste, but better than that sounds. Tastes evolves significantly with warmth. Caramel. Peat. Interestingly it seems to have a mid point that is not so special but the ends shine in unique. Between mid & full bodied smooth mouthfeel. very sticky overpour
cheers
