Poured a deep amber hue with a 1/4 finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.
The smell featured roasted malts and a robust smokiness.
The taste consisted of a light roasted barley with a pleasant smokiness. A touch of nuttiness and grassy hop detected as well.
The mouthfeel was typical of the style with good carbonation.
Overall a very tasty brown ale.

On tap at BrickHouse. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of coffee and roasted buts. Flavor of coffee and roasted malt. Nice and robust palate. Very pleasant and drinkable, certainly a surprise to me. This is good stuff!

Pours nice and dark with a 1 inch head. Aromas of chocolate and roasted maltiness. The flavors depict much of the same and it's a bit more complex than many other brown ales. This is a great beer to hang around a late afternoon drinking with your buds. Go for it.

This beer pours a dark, translucent brown with almost no head, but leaves behind good lacing. The smell is almost non-existent. I really couldn't pick up any strong aroma, other than perhaps a slight malt smell.
The roasty malts come through in the taste though. There is a certain coffee flavor to it, but it's not as pronounced as you may think. Rosted nuts is the overriding taste here, which isn't a bad thing. It is ever so slightly bitter at the end. The beer is a bit too carbonated for me though, and the body is quite thin. Still, it's a drinkable beer that I've had many times before and will probably have again. Reccommended.

Appearance is dark brown/black; slight head that dissapates quickly and leaves good lacing. Aroma is sweet -- traces of coffee and chocolate. Taste is the same -- excellent with the coffee aspect showing up throughout. A smooth beer with a fair amount of carbonation. Could drink several of these in one sitting, preferably with a nice burger and fries platter in front of me.

A very dark brown almost black beer with a beige head that leaves quickly. It has a sweet malty aroma with a hint of chocolate. That chocolate aspect shows up again in the flavor mixed with aroasted malt and some traces of coffee. The dark color and the chocolate and coffee in the flavor made think this was more like a Porter than a Brown ale. Still a tasty drink.
