The third beer tasted by half-pint at the Oakdale's Easter Beer Festival, late April 2006. Gravity-dispensed.
A: very dark but clear copperish-amber hue, coming with a faint beer head, low carbonation.
S: slightly dirt-ish, with deeply damp-leafy and earthy hops at work... a deeper layer of toffeeish dark maltiness sustains firmly underneath.
T: lovely sour-sweet, smoked and roasted malty flavour upfront, reminiscent of toffee, filtered coffee, etc.; a mild-flavoured but dryish and earthy hoppyness makes a late entrance, soon leading to a dryish, smoked bitter finish.
M&D: surprisingly light-bodied and the mouthfeel is slightly on the thin side, while the body is fed with abundant roasted-ness, thus rendered quite balanced overall. Can't pinpoint which style it's meant to be, but it tastes like a heavier version of mild to me.
