***Word to the wise: At TRAP ROCK, a "tall" means a glass about 2 feet tall that holds a swimming pool of beer*** Needless to say, I opted for the "tall" glass of the Belgian Rye.
A sight to behold in a 22 oz mega pilsner glass, this hazy orange amber hued bubbly beer was topped with a settling ivory rim
Initial scents didn't give up the ghost, but were a touch doughy indicating the Belgian yeast used. Once warmed up, the signature Belgian yeast was pronounced via a musty aroma with the flour dough scent with rye suggestions.
First swigs: Doughy and clean. A proper rye presence emerged that is just an honest rye. This is not a hot rod burning down the track but a clean honest rye that begs to be sipped and sipped for he entire 22 oz. endurance. Once the temp was less cold, there was a pronounced leather and musty hay translated from the yeast.
Feel was fluffy and neat. Quite the ephemeral aftertaste despite the big rye pow! Impressed with the sturdy flavor and clean finish.
Last swigs: Zero awl-kee-hawl detection. Granted 5.5% isn't too crazy, but it is smooth, nonetheless. Craftsmanship rarely seen...or tasted.

Another great effort from Trap Rock. Rye without additional spicing. No carraway on display here.
Belgian esters and apples in the smell and taste. Mixes well with the rye. Clean and very drinkable.
Reference jcalbi's review for the appearance. Unfiltered, nicely colored. Good lacing.
