750ml bottle that i picked up at bierkraft last summer
pours jet black with a half finger tan head
smells like bitter chocolate and malt
taste is like one of those fruit and nut chocolate bars....starts with milk chocolate and dried raisins and cranberry and ends with a almost almond taste and a slight booze burn...amazing
mouthfeel is a little light and carbonation is on the high side but still quite nice
overall amazing beer....i should have picked up more than just the one bottle when i had the chance

A: The beer is jet black and poured with a thin tan head that died down and left a ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: There are aromas of dark malts and licorice in the nose along with notes of dark malts.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has flavors of dark fruit.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The flavors of dark fruits are interesting and unique for the style, which is usually dominated by roasted malts. It lacks the complexities in taste compared to other imperial stouts but on the other hand is a lot more drinkable.

Served on tap at Mugs Alehouse in Brooklyn, NY
A: Pours jet black in color with some hints of red when held up to the light. The beer has a finger tall dark tan head that reduces to a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant lacing is observed.
S: There are some hints of alcohol along with the dark roasted malts, licorice/anise, dark fruit, and citrus hops.
T: Dark roasted and slightly charred/burnt malts dominate the flavor but there are also some hints of bittersweet chocolate, oak, and citrus hops. Nice complexity.
M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Tiny bit of alcohol heat in the finish.
O: As long as I can find this one, I would likely get it again. There is a nice complexity to the beer and an interesting combination of the citrus hops with the more traditional stouts flavors.

32 ounce growler filled at DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY ($7.99)
Pours pretty near black, very dark tan head, initially showing nice retention, then a tiny bubble film, thicker colar and ample scatttered bits of lace.
Pungent hopped up nose, with some sweetness added to the mix.
Very flavorful, tasty and dangerously easy drinking D.I.S., some chocolate, cafe au lait, dark caramel, gooey dark fruits, light smoke and a healthy dose of fresh tasting hops.
Complex, well crafted and highly enjoyable.

On tap at Double Windsor, Brooklyn. Not a bad one, some lace. A big IBU good hoppyness, that's the story over the stout. Grapefruit, malty fruitiness. Good drinkability. Above average mouthfeel. Worth a try though not outstanding for an outstanding style.

On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.
Poured a deep black hue with a one finger foamy off white head. There was hood retention and lacing.
The smell featured a soft dark chocolate and light roasted malt.
The taste was dominated by the roasted malt and accompanying coffe and charcoal. Avnoce hop punch as well.
The mouthfeel was toward the lighter side of the style.
Overall a tasty user friendly imperial stout.

Had on tap at Bierkraft's 10th Anniversary event in Brooklyn.
A- Pours black in color. A frothy tan head that stuck around for about 5 minutes or so.
S- Hoppy, for an Imperial Stout. Roasted notes in the nose.
T- Hops are surprisingly strong within this Imperial Stout. I'm not adverse to hops in stout, so I do enjoy it. Slight to moderate dark malt presence.
M- Carbonation is spot on. The stout seems a little light in feel. I like it.
D- Overall, if I see this beer on draft at some other point, I will have it. Very good stout that wasn't so rich you'd be done after one. Very balanced, but you do need to enjoy hops.
