Thanks to Ethan for this one. Served in a NotLA taster glass.
A - A half-finger of white foam settles to a thin collar, wispy patches, and no lace. Hazy orange body.
S - Smells like an aged DIPA, with a kiss of maple and butterscotch. I don't get much in the way of bourbon, but I guess these were Maple Liquor barrels. Very malt-forward and sweet at this point, with perhaps some faded citrus hops.
T - Taste is quite similar - sweet and malty, with caramel malts, butterscotch, and a bit of oaky vanilla as well. Astringent finish, but not overly boozy considering the ABV.
M - Low carbonation, smooth texture, medium-full body, and reasonably well-hidden alcohol.
D - Too sweet for my tastes, and the barrel-aging hasn't contributed a ton of flavor. Mostly tastes like an old DIPA with a hint of maple.
