Pours a nutty brown with a finger of khaki foam. Aroma is nutty, toasty, earthy, caramely, bready malts - and that's it. Solid array of malt, leaning towards the darker side, but never quite dives into the depths. Flavor profile is more nutty, caramely, bready, earthy, and toasty malts with an emphasis on the bready, earthy, caramely, and nutty ones. Mouth feel is smooth with a lightly creamy texture. Think 1% milk creamy. Thickness is medium. Overall, solid brown ale with some punchy malts.

Brownish mahogany colored body; thin, wispy head. Trace of roasted grains; nuts. Brown sugar and cola flavor; maple. Medium body; slick; starts relatively sweet yet has a fairly dry edge at the finish.
A fair brown ale that tastes a tad too much like a soft drink. There is some roasted malt sweetness and grain-like flavor, but there is also a kind of twang to things. Still, it's pleasant enough and drinks easily.

apparently these guys are back after a very long hiatus. originally out of boulder now being brewed at prost from what i understand. i hope their other beers are better than this one. maybe in the 90s this was a passable brown ale, but its barely there anymore. its as much an amber as a brown, letting plenty of light in and hardly having any roasted barley or chocolate malt profile to it at all. instead a watery medium toasted and caramel malt profile, again more red than brown, and not enough hops in the finish to balance the sweetness. i suppose in a summery context this might be a nicer session alternative for a malty beer lover than a real big cocoa heavy brown, but as fall fast approaches, it already seems thin. nicely carbonated i suppose, but there really just isnt enough body for the style, even this interpretation of it. i think its cool this brewery wants to make a comeback, but their beer is going to have to evolve with the times, this is a rather generic brew, almost a baby step into craft from something like a newcastle. ill try the others, but one was plenty of this one for me.

Poured a slightly cloudy brown with some ruby highlights and a very small thin head.
Smell is a slightly toasted matlyness with a nice toffee odor as well.
Taste is a nice combaination of toasty bread flavors mixing well with a nice nuttiness to it. Not a bit sweet and has a nice earthy hop finish. Very well done.
Mouthfeel has a decent medium body to it.
Drinkability is very good, one of the better brown ales I have come across in a while.

The Tut Brown poured reddish-brown with a small, fizzy head that was quickly gone.
The aroma was very light toasted malt and some sweetness.
The taste was nutty, toffee malt with some sugary sweetness and a crisp, slightly bitter, finish. It was a little thin and watery going down.
Overall, I thought this was a nice tasting, very quaffable brew.

Pours a translucent coppery brown with a fluffy tan head. Bready and caramelly malt notes with the right amount of low alphas showing up in the nose, too. Mostly sweet and supple malt accents throughout the sip finishing a bit husky and has a slight astringency. Overall, it is a quality mild brown ale, that's my take on it. Thanks again to my friend who shared some of his stash from a roadtrip.

The Tut Brown pours out just right, a clear, caramel-y brown shade, adorned with a thick, creamy head. Aroma is mild, nutty, coppery, and slightly spicy.
As for taste, we get richness right away, sweet, juicy malt, and just a drizzle of hops. Body is medium/light, and texture has something up front, a light hop bite, then fading. Finish is brief, but pleasant enough.
Taste remains sweet and happy throughout, but toward the end this brew peters out and leaves my palate aching for more flavor, somewhere, anywhere. But if the old tastebuds weren't in such a mood, this would be one fine session ale, for sure.
Thanks to vitriola for the chance to sample this again.

This beer pours a dark brown color with a very small head. The aroma reminds me of some sort of nuts and possibly caramel. The flavor is very nutty with hints of caramel just like the aroma hinted at. Fairly smooth to drink and pretty crisp. Not a bad beer, but it does seem a little weak.

A very mild brown ale, perhaps a touch too mild. Not a lot going on in the aroma, but the beer poured an inviting amber/walnut. Very soft in the mouth, with gentle chocolate malt and toffee flavors. Finished a touch sour to balance up the initial sweetness. I was surprised to see the abv listed as 5.75%, I would have thought it a sub-5. Recognizing that the style is sort of the "comfort food" of beers, I still would have liked to see this beer beefed up just a touch with a little more malt to firm up the mouthfeel and finish.
