This combo red ale is a good idea but not terribly well executed. The red tobacco color is pleasing and it has a nice head, but looks can't really save this beer. The taste isn't pronouced or nuanced in any way and the finish is weak. Fairly quickly your mouth will only taste alcohol. The combo of a red ale/imperial ale is a good idea, but it needs to be retinkered. There are better beers to get from this brewery.

Good red color, unfiltered? Not picking up any aroma. Taste pleasant but not compelling, a malt and hops in a low balance, sweet more than anything. Body is fine for this style, medium.

Pours a hazy dark orange-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, earth, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, earth, and slight burnt caramel flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth and hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but nothing really stands out about it to me.
