Dale Bros took a small batch of its Shameless McDale and conditioned it in American Oak. It is an unfiltered beer and made with 100% organic grain. Label says that it may be cloudy.
Appearance is actually a clear dark copper/red with a nice white head and attractive looking. Well, that's it for the good news....
Nose is a light simple hint of banana and light belgian candi sugar. Not bad - just very single dimensional and light.
Mouthfeel is thin, weak and watery with no real character; no real body and no real balance.
Flavor is weak, thin and most uneventful. Flavor is a bit like lightly sweetened watered coffee water. Perhaps a lightly sweet hint of sugar/fruit water. Very much more like a flavored water than a barrel aged red ale.
The finish has a hint of cedar (not oak). Weak, thin, lightly sweet watery coffee finish. Lemon Perrier has more punch and flavor.
Suffice it to say that this is not "bad." It does not have any "off putting" characteristics; it's just that it really has no characteristics what so ever. Not really drinkable unless you just want the benefit of the liquid/water.
