Deep tan light brown head. Nose was redolent with nutmeg, pine, and cinnamon. Color was a deep brown. Mouth feel was medium and chock full of spice. The finish had a dusty ground cinnamon feel on the palate. In the mouth, it was a bit tougher to quantify with all of the spices present. I really had to allow it to warm to get the full effect. Cinnamon and nutmeg, to be sure, plus allspice (?) and cardamom (cheated) and orange peel (cheated). It was just to be .5/pint, but my waitress said "Oh no, it's our holiday beer! Happy Holidays, eight ounce on the house." Ha!

Enjoyed this one at the Beach Chalet in San Francisco, watching the Pacific crash into the continental shelf. Excellent spot for a beer and a good memory.
This was offered as the brewer's special, and is advertised as their holiday beer. As a Canadian it seems strange to be drinking a Christmas beer while looking out at people strolling along a beach in light jackets. Rich amber pour with a small off-white head that left some nice lace and exhibited good retention. Aroma is malty and moderately sweet with an alcohol presence. Full on malty body with a light sweetness and lingering notes of spice, with cinnamon and nutmeg jumping out at me. Its probably just shy of a traditional winter warmer, as the spicing in this batch isn't quite as prominent as in other examples. Full-bodied palate seems good for the style.
A decent ale and one of the better ones from the Beach Chalet lineup.
