I had this in the sampler at Beach Chalet.
Appearance- copper color, thin head
Smell- some malt mostly
Taste- malt, bitter finish
Mouthfeel- medium bodied
Drinkability- I thought it was pretty good. I might have it again. It depends on my mood at the time.

A: Sits in pitcher with a thick gradually dissipating white head with a clear amber body.
S: Not too much. Some malts and honey.
T: Main flavor is the sweet malt and a bit of honey. But there is also something funky, a bit like a Heineken, that finishes it off. Can't tell if its just some unpleasant hoppy bitterness.
M: Pretty standard for an APA--not too thick or thin, nothing out of the ordinary.
D: Pretty light and easy to get through, though probably wouldn't get again next time I'm at the chalet.

On tap at Beach Chale on 7/14/09.
A - Amber/caramel-colored body with moderate carbonation and a creamy off-white head that yielded thick, intricate lacing.
S - Thick, rich caramel malt aroma with burnt sugars and a mild floral and perfumy hop notes.
T - Lots of caramel malt sweetness in the initial flavor, as well as a burnt sugar sweetness. Hops are subtle, offering a hint of tea-like, leafy and floral bitterness in the finish.
M - Medium bodied with a syrupy texture and moderate carbonation. Slight hop bitterness on the palate that lingers for a bit.
D - Very malt-forward pale ale with lots of caramel sweetness and a pretty substantial hop bite as well. One of the better offerings at Beach Chalet.

Enjoyed this one at the Beach Chalet in San Francisco, watching the Pacific crash into the continental shelf. Excellent spot for a beer and a good memory.
Copper body with a small off-white head that faded to a film with the odd spot of lace left behind. Sweet, bready nose has a lot of malt, but not a lot of hops, and while its pleasant its not really what I'd look for in an American Pale Ale. Lots of caramel in the flavour, which is again extremely malty and hop shy. In fact the hops only make a brief appearance in the finish, where they reveal a light herbal character. The mouthfeel is smooth with a soft carbonation.
This beer is decent, but a little one-dimensional, and not altogether true to what people should expect from a west coast pale ale.

Poured from a 22oz. The beer was an orange coppery color, the head was thin and faded away fairly quickly. Not to much in the smell department, a little earthy. The flavor was initially earthy, not really to much malt flavor, although their is a hint of diacetyl, the beer finished with a decent amount of bitterness. The mouthfeel was very good. A drinkable beer, but not to exciting.
hmmm.... Just poured the rest of the bottle into my glass and got some little black chunks that fell to the bottom of the glass. I'm used to seeing yeast in beer, but these look a little different. Hopefully I'll live.

Twenty-two in the bottle poured in two servings into my newly acquired gold-rimmed chalice. Both beer and glass were a BA Secret Santa gift from axisjones in Cali.
A: A somewhat fiery dark-side copper with a pure white fluffed cream head. The body exhibits a bit of unexplained murkiness. Crisp lacing.
S: Initial impressions are a red grape skin tannin-like aroma and a mossy Chinook-type hop scent. Digging deeper brings out iron, and earthy spices (think sage) and lightly-kilned pale malt husks.
T: A bolder flavor than expected. Strongly bitter with a lingering finish. Not a whole lot of malt backbone here, but enough to carry the beer.
M: Zippy and dark on the tongue, the earthy spiciness of the hops really dance across the palate. Moderate carbonation comes across as maybe a little flat for the style.
D: A definite session candidate. Overall a flavorful brewpub APA.
